Man arrested for killing father

Mthatha - A man was arrested in Butterworth early on Thursday morning for allegedly killing his father, Eastern Cape police said.

Captain Jackson Manatha said the 26-year-old man was arrested at around 03:00.

The man allegedly hit his 52-year-old father over the head with a sharp object after a quarrel in Ndotshanga location, Bawa village, on Wednesday. The man died on the scene.

Manatha said local residents notified police. The reason for the quarrel was unknown.

The man was expected to appear in the Butterworth Magistrate's Court once police had concluded their investigation.
