Man arrested for stabbing friend

Johannesburg - A man was arrested on Monday after he allegedly stabbed and seriously wounded a friend in Kagiso near Krugersdorp, Gauteng police said.

The 35-year-old man was arrested around 01:00 on Monday, Brigadier Thulane Ngubane said.

"It is believed the man stabbed his friend on Saturday when a fight broke out."

The two men were watching soccer when they started fighting. The man first tried to assault his friend's wife.

He then stabbed the friend with a sharp object in the chest before fleeing on foot.

"The injured man was rushed to hospital and he was in a serious but stable condition."

The man faces a charge of attempted murder was expected to appear in the Kagiso Magistrate's Court soon.
