Johannesburg - A 40-year-old man was arrested in Nigel for alleged possession of uncut diamonds, police said on Thursday.

Captain Julia Claasens said the organised crime unit got a tip-off about a rendezvous to sell the stones at a Caltex garage in the small town east of Johannesburg on Wednesday.

Investigators from the organised crime unit arrested the seller and confiscated two uncut diamonds valued at R600 000, and one diamond tester.

The man will appear in the Nigel Magistrate's Court on Friday to face charges of being in possession of uncut diamonds.
