Johannesburg - A man was arrested in Delareyville, near Vrybrurg, for being in possession of an elephant tusk, North West police said on Sunday.
"On [Saturday] police received information of a person who was reported to be in possession of an elephant tusk," said Brigadier Thulani Ngubane.
The man, 42, was later stopped by police on the Geysdorp-Khunwana road, and his car searched, where the tusk was found.
The man claimed he found the tusk at a dumping site in Rustenburg, said Ngubane.
The man was expected to appear in the Delareyville Magistrate's Court on Monday.
