Pretoria - A 54-year-old man was in hospital in a serious condition after being assaulted by three men who broke into his Erasmia home on Saturday, Pretoria police reported.
Inspector Anton Breedt said the man was woken up by the intruders who broke into his house south west of the city around 1am.
They tied the victim up and pistol whipped him about the head and body then threw a mattress over him and continued with the beating.
The three men then ransacked the house and took cash, clothing, hi-fi equipment and a video recorder before leaving the scene.
