Man bitten by snake outside stadium

2011-12-05 07:54
Mahikeng - A man was bitten by a snake in Mahikeng at the weekend, North West police said on Monday.

The man attended a festival at the Mmabatho stadium on Saturday night where he was bitten, Brigadier Thulani Ngubane said.

"It is alleged that the victim went to the bathroom, and realised that the queue was too long, but could not wait. He then decided to go outside the stadium where there was taller grass.

"It was during that time that a snake bit him on his left hand."

The 28-year-old was treated at a local hospital and later discharged.

It was unclear what type of snake it was.

"The South African Police Service is warning the community to use proper facilities to avoid cases of this nature to happen in future," Ngubane said.
