Man bitten by snake outside stadium

2011-12-05 07:54

Mahikeng - A man was bitten by a snake in Mahikeng at the weekend, North West police said on Monday.

The man attended a festival at the Mmabatho stadium on Saturday night where he was bitten, Brigadier Thulani Ngubane said.

"It is alleged that the victim went to the bathroom, and realised that the queue was too long, but could not wait. He then decided to go outside the stadium where there was taller grass.

"It was during that time that a snake bit him on his left hand."

The 28-year-old was treated at a local hospital and later discharged.

It was unclear what type of snake it was.

"The South African Police Service is warning the community to use proper facilities to avoid cases of this nature to happen in future," Ngubane said.

'To use the proper facilities' is sometimes easier said than done. The call of nature in busy times could call for an exception to the rule.

I don't blame the snake. It thought it was merely defending it's territory from the other snake.

Saw a guy at the train station, suitcase in one hand, weener in the other - walking and peeing at the same time, in crowd of people nogal! I had a female Aussie exchange student with me at the time, most entertaining introduction to Africa. (Was back in the 80's) Must admit, this snake bite story is a non event - can't believe it made it to the newsroom, besides a bit of entertainment value.

The snake bit him on his left hand, well that seems it was way to close to his meat hey ha ha ha

This snake is simply a self-imposed enviromental inspector. I wish would do the same to other enviromental polluters. These should include women who litter disposable nappies and other enviromental polluters.

      Chum Scrubber - 2011-12-05 11:43

Imagine if it was a woman having a pee behind the bush, where would she have been bitten? When nature calls one has to go, either that or burst your bladder! He wasn't polluting anyway, he was fertigating (fertilizing through irrigation) the grass with a high dose of nitrogen in the form of urea.
