Man defrauds SABC of R500 000

2011-11-18 18:00
Johannesburg - Police are searching for a man whose company was contracted to do work for the SABC, the Hawks said on Friday.

Ruben Mntungwa was allocated funds by the broadcaster for a community production show, but disappeared with R500 000, spokesperson McIntosh Polela said in a statement.

"He is alleged to have presented numerous fictitious invoices claiming money for work that was never done."

The man was the director of RMN Productions and a warrant of arrest had been issued for him, Polela said.

The police had searched his Kagiso residence, but could not find him.

Polela said it was believed he was hiding in Pomeroy, Hlanganane or in Maxumane, in KwaZulu-Natal.

He was last seen driving a blue Toyota Corolla, registration JVX214GP.
