Man dies after picking fight with ex

2012-01-30 14:04

Polokwane - A man was killed after stabbing his ex-girlfriend several times during a fight near Seshego, Limpopo police said on Monday.

The 19-year-old woman was with her boyfriend in Ga-Makgakga village on Sunday afternoon when her ex-boyfriend, aged 21, approached her, Warrant Officer Mothemane Malefo said.

"He asked to see her separately and an argument broke out between the two. The 21-year-old man pulled out a knife and stabbed the 19-year-old woman in the upper body."

The woman's new boyfriend then allegedly hacked the ex-boyfriend several times with a panga. He died on the scene.

Police arrested the boyfriend and charged him with murder. He was expected to appear in the Seshego Magistrate's Court later on Monday.

The woman was admitted to a local hospital in a serious condition.

The mentality of these clowns living in Limpopo never seizes to amaze me. Go Limpopo, you are making a name for yourself. And just before you start jumping of joy, IT'S NOT A GOOD NAME!!

@Mike, and how is Johan Kotze in any way less barbaric?

      Randomhero6661 - 2012-01-30 14:56

ah mikey - terrible! you look like hook from peter pan.

      E=MC2 - 2012-01-30 14:58

Mike - Generalising... whites can be just as bad.

      chris.debeer1 - 2012-01-30 15:46

Yes what province Johan Kotze From? Proof our point it is in the water their it is not race issue they to close to old Mad Mugabe

      Hamrammr - 2012-01-30 17:22

I see all of the race related comments and I read arguments such as "Crime is colourless" etc. and I have to smirk at these comments. Yes it is true, crime is committed by individuals of all races and socio-economic classes, BUT the frequency with which it occurs is indeed much more prevelent within certain populations. Not only is it much more frequent but also much more violent, forget Johan Kotze (Although I would like to see him tortured to death), he is only one out of a million white people! In most cases where white people have committed serious and violent crimes such as Johan Kotze has (including those who have committed acts of cannibalism, serial murders etc.), are they proven to have serious psychological illness. Compare that to 99% of violent crimes we have to face daily which is committed out of greed or for the fun of it by a certain part of the population! Climb out from under your rocks and face reality!

      Peter - 2012-01-30 18:16

@Hamrammr, I know what you are alluding to my friend...but in some south american countries and mexico the rate and amount of extremely barbaric and violent mass killings easily exceeds what happening here. Those countries has no or very little of the "certain part of population" that you are referring to. Unless you are referring to Latin Americans or Mexicans.

      Thando - 2012-01-31 10:06

@Hamrammr - Maybe you are correct. Another example is that in high profile paedophile cases, it is almost always Afrikaners or Germans who are the culprits

      roxanne.amos - 2012-01-31 10:11

@hamrammr Obviously in a country where the populations is 10 percent white, 10 percent coloured and Indian and 80 percent black-there is a much larger chance of the criminal being black, it has nothing to do with race- it has everything to do with the individual.

      Hamrammr - 2012-01-31 10:42

@ Thando, I have to admit that it is indeed for the most part true. In 99% of cases where white people is involved it is found to be a fetish (psychological disease?) as extensive child pornographic material is present and I think that this lead to the high media exposure that these cases receive. Someone have once commented that the higher the IQ the higher the prevalence of perversion. Let us just not forget the amount of reports on baby rapes in townships... @Roxanne, I have heard that argument before but statistically the 'certain population' I referred to earlier, is still per capita more prone to violent crimes. I am not trying to prove that one race is better than another but when it comes to violent crimes certain races are more prone to it as Peter pointed out withg people of South American descent. I'm not implying that everyone of a certain race, be it black green or white, is a violent criminal, there are good people in all of the races and I have the utmost respect for all of them, but the same applies for bad people who I have no respect for.

      JohncarlosBiza - 2012-01-31 11:20

To think that this nonsense passes as a worthwhile debate is actually sad. Adjusted for demography and socio-economic status, there's nothing 'weird' about the race of the people committing the most crime. If anything, it would be weird if the proportion was different. If you guys debating this are the smarter part of our population, I shudder to think how the dumb ones think.

  • Joe - 2012-01-30 14:17

This is just barbaric there is no other way of describing it.

  • ivan.coetzee2 - 2012-01-30 14:22

  • StarStruck - 2012-01-30 14:28

OMG!! This story just sent shivers down my spine. Limpopo - again. Someone should just build a wall around it. I bet the crime statistics will drop in other provinces too.

      E=MC2 - 2012-01-30 14:53

hahah build a wall around it & fill it up with something!

  • Johnny - 2012-01-30 14:47

And so it seems "we" always keep a knife or panga at hand, just in case we might have the opportunity to stab or hack somebody to death. This is a disgrace... as many other senseless killings!!!! Hope the girl recovers well!

      Arnold - 2012-01-30 14:58

Just like every house owning a gun.if you know what I mean

      the_gob - 2012-01-30 15:13

@Arnold, big difference between owning a gun and keeping it in a, hopefully, safe place in your house than walking around with a panga knife "just in case". If you know what I mean.

      Kala - 2012-01-30 15:35

Arnold - I've never heard of guns killing people. I have heard of People with guns killing people. Guns are inate peices of metal and plastic. They need a human to make them work.

  • Tokollo - 2012-01-30 14:49

@ Mike. When the white kid from Krugersdorp used a sword and assassinated his school mate was that cultured behaviour? Stop using the race card, not all killers are blacks, and this article has nothing to do with race.

      E=MC2 - 2012-01-30 14:54

      agreed

  • Sharon - 2012-01-30 14:56

  • Marius Koen - 2012-01-30 14:58

This is only the tip of the iceberg. a lot of black people get killed daily in the townships. It just dont make the news. The SAPS are not competent to investigate and arrest the killers. Then if they succeed our courts fail to put these killers away for life. Its ajoke and the ANC is to be blamed.

  • Linda - 2012-01-30 15:01

O my goodness I did not know that this kind of thing only happens in Limpopo. Maybe it is because we don't hide the truth about the crime situation in Limpopo. I am proudly Limpopo after leaving Gauteng 16 years ago. And believe me if I say that I was also a statistic in Gauteng (3 times in one week) once in front of John Vorster Police station. So please stop thinking Limpopo is so bad and a disgrace to the rest of RSA and look at the population figures of all the provinces and see where the majority comes from!!! AH

      Annelise - 2012-01-30 15:09

Linda. I have left Limpopo in 1996 for Cape Town and can assure you that it is a lot saver here than up in Limpopo. In all my time here we only had one brake-in, and that was a white kid on drugs. The sorry thing is that you are getting used to crime. PS I was born in the old Pietersburg and lived there for 23 years. Could not have made a better move to get away from it.

  • Arnold - 2012-01-30 15:01

Cry my Beloved Province, Limpopo. Girls must try to stay away from wrong partners irrespective of what they do for them. It would be advisable to stay away from an ex for good. Normally women keep in touch with their exes which always make an ex still think like a real BF and that makes him always want to confront the new boyfriend as a result of jelousy. This may result to the wiping out of the whole family depending on the deadliness of the weapon he possesses. The fact that he could still see her raises suspicion. When the relationship is over any contact must be coordinated by law enforcers if there are kids. The same applies to guys, women usually use other men to hurt their 'ex' BF's when they know that they are still madly in love with them. Men should not believe on what women say if they say they are not in a relationship or it's complicated. They must do their own research and always find a lodge when they have to meet someone they are not sure of her relationship status. I escaped guns because of women who always say I'm not involved or It's complicated. For men, I know that you have a lot of strength but you must always excercise restraint to avoid unnecessary bloodbath as it always affects those left behind, more especially kids.

      maylani.bezuidenhout - 2012-01-31 10:03

Huh? How about advising men not to carry around knives and pangas and attacking anyone? Men have a lot of strength... lot of stupidity too!

      Mildly_Amused - 2012-01-31 11:58

What disturbs me most is that you say "This may result to the wiping out of the whole family depending on the deadliness of the weapon he possesses" like it's the most natural thing on earth... No, dude. No. It's not normal. It's not natural. It's not okay. How about we all try for some intelligence and talk things out?

  • Deon - 2012-01-30 15:18

      Linda - 2012-01-30 16:05

If you can't stand the heat stay out of the kitchen!!!!

  • Angelo - 2012-01-30 15:30

If someone stabbed\attacked my wife and a panga was close by i would use it to protect her as well. Would you not do the same? The Panga guy has a case for self defence!

      jljohnnylawrence - 2012-01-30 15:34

Tru day, what do U do when another man attach your girlfriend? call the cops? not use a panga while the guys has a weapon?

  • richardjcw - 2012-01-30 16:00

  • markus.botha - 2012-01-31 09:42

I'm not trying to be cynical. But have you noticed that whenever the media talks about a black man the word "Man" appears in the title. Where as when a white person is the subject they call him by his last-name. Why?

  • Mabs - 2012-01-31 09:45

Hell, it seems the rule of the panga is "Limpopo justice"

  • grant.weston1 - 2012-01-31 11:18

What would you do if your girlfriend was stabbed?

  • Samora - 2012-01-31 11:44

crime stats consistently show higher knife/sharp object incidents in cape flats than anywhere else in SA. so when international magazines always vote capetown as top 10 international destination, they mean llandudno. If forced to make a choice, I'd choose that seshego place over manenberg anyday
