2012-05-17 07:53

Pretoria - A man was killed and two others were critically injured when the car they were travelling in plunged over a bridge on Eufees Road in Pretoria and landed on the road below, paramedics said on Thursday.

ER24 paramedics found the Honda sedan had fallen about eight metres and had come to rest on its wheels on Trichardt Road, an extension of Old Pretoria Main Road.

Spokesperson Vanessa Jackson said one passenger died before paramedics arrived.

The driver sustained extensive head injuries and another passenger had multiple broken bones. Both had to be removed from the wreckage with the Jaws of Life and were taken to hospital with critical injuries.

Two other passengers escaped with minor injuries.

It was not known why the driver lost control of the car and the cause of the accident would be investigated by police.

This is why buying a license over the counter is so dangerous. RIP

      Frans - 2012-05-17 08:40

Songezo, I've been driving without a license for close to thirteen years without an accident or major incident. I was more cautious than most licensed drivers.

@Frans, You didn't buy one then, did you? That's exactly what Songezo.kilani said.

      @Frans - Very irresponsible!

      songezo.kilani - 2012-05-17 09:05

@frans what do you want then, a medal?

I'm sorry. Did I miss something? Where in the article does it say anything about a bought drivers licence? Or are you under the impression that accidents only occur if you have a bought over the counter licence? Please stick to the facts. Would you like it if your loved ones had to read you were killed in an accident because you drove with a bought licence when you and they no its not true! You are contradicting yourself by saying RIP. How the hell can you expect someone to RIP if you are making false assumptions. I hope his soul comes back to bite your ass(umption) before he goes to rest. Shame on you Songezo.

@Frans You dont get the point of what songezo tries to tell. Two big differences are to be a professional driver without a license and a complete idiot who doesnt know where's the clutch and where's the gas but he's got bucks to buy that blessed plastic card.

songezo< think before you type, your comment in insensitive and downright stupid!!!

He was probably speeding, I drive on that road almost everyday and it's bumby on the part where the accident happens. May his soul RIP!

      Rob - 2012-05-17 17:35

      What's a bumby?

  • Andre - 2012-05-17 08:16

In times past, reporters did their utmost best to identify casualties, victims and criminals. What has happened to good reportage?

@Frans. And you are obviously very proud of the fact! It's nothing to be proud of! Idiot!

Two things you must never do if owning a car - save money on service and rushing off to your own funerals if over-speeding on the road.
