Man 'drives into estranged wife'

2012-01-23 09:24

Cape Town - Police are looking for a 26-year-old Zimbabwean who is on the run after allegedly killing his wife.

Alexio Mukana is believed to have killed Rejoice Giyane, 24, by hitting her with a car, reported the Weekend Argus.

The incident happened in Bellville on Wednesday afternoon. Giyane had finished work and was on her way home when her estranged husband approached her and asked her to get into his car.

She apparently refused and walked away. Mukanda then drove towards her, knocked her over and hit a tree.

He ran away and police believe he may be on his way to Zimbabwe.

Giyane was rushed to hospital but died of her injuries.

Police have alerted border officials to look out for Mukanda.

what is wrong with these people

      Schmee - 2012-01-23 11:18

I wonder why you two are getting thumbs-down for your comments. Are there some people out there that agree that women should be killed for leaving their husbands?

Don't people resolve their differences across a table anymore?? So many countless stories about men shooting, stabbing, raping and now driving over their estranged partners. Has everyone gone stark raving mad?

      Sharon - 2012-01-23 10:17

Ai, Johan Kotze? Sorry, can't generalise on this one, Mike!

      Ehllene - 2012-01-23 10:38

@Mike: Nee, jong.

      Coral - 2012-01-23 10:49

Mike you are as simple minded as your comment - and as bad as the other people wanting to stir. Another thing i think is you need to go back to school...learn what is politically correct and what is not politically correct...I TOTALLY agree with Ivan - you hit the nail on the head...

Oh damn my comment was also removed by the News 24 idiot LOL, wasnt even offensive LMAO

Can't women see these signs early on? Or is love so blind?

      BubblesdoubleO7 - 2012-01-23 10:48

She did see the signs, that's why she left him and they became estranged. He lost the plot, became deranged and now another life is lost.

  • Cornelius - 2012-01-23 10:12

    Crazy!

  • Barbara - 2012-01-23 10:13

And of course @Mike, the Modimolle monster is also a 'darkie' ... and the Henning woman killed at pointblank was also a 'darkie' ... so the culture isn't quite so different is it? Should you really be so stupidly superior in your white skin?

      DuToitCoetzee - 2012-01-23 11:31

Mike's comment was removed before I could read it, but what I rendered for all the replies on it, it seams that mike must stop playing with crayons(coloring in) and realize that we need to address these total fall of our society values. We waist our time to look for differences while we experience problems that are stretching over all "boundaries" and need the attention of ALL to solve.

WTF! What is this world turning into!

  • karen.glautier - 2012-01-23 11:21

"Alexio Mukana is believed to have killed Rejoice Giyane, 24, by hitting her with a car" - it sounds like he picked up the car and hit her with it!! Can't you just say he drove into her??

Maybe this would be a lesson for ladies who are involved with foreigners because now the suspect would be Police job. We have got real crimes of our owns not this hell of negligence. Get involved with a local and it would be traceable. Live foreigners to get involved among themselves and they would be able to assist the police in tracing such suspects. I am just sorry for the family because they wont see justice and hopefully they wont blame our local police for their daughter's mess.

eradingoana, look at that womans name, don't you think she could probably be foreign too? There's this thing normal humans usually do before sharing their opinion, its called thinking. Try it sometime.

  • padayachee - 2012-01-23 12:48

Anyhting else in the news these days...? Atleast rape is down?

  • eradingoana - 2012-01-23 14:12

Nakeli, I thought you are a South African but I can see that the surname Nakeli cannot be from any of South Africa's nine provinces unless u just got an SA Citizenship, if so congratulations because that lady 'surname is possibly Jiyane not Giyane unless you have a Giyane relative.

      Kekeletso Nakeli - 2012-01-23 16:42

Point of correctio: its a purely Southern Sotho surname... As for "just got an sa citizenship" whatever floats your boat. Please refer back to your english teacher, its in society's best interest. The most important thing for you to know though, is that liking your own uneducated comment doesn't count. Sit Down!!! "Police have alerted border officials to look out for Mukanda." Hello.... are the Zimbabweans using the border posts again??

  • Dominique - 2012-01-23 22:15

Margie.. The tests cost R24000 from a forensic psychologist and the bill will be for who ever is willing to pay it! The SICKO's who do these things are normally very good at changing their personalities when needed and come across as the nicest people ever. Unfortunately 'systems' don't give enough support and it takes a strong person to go through the justice system and complete a GBH/Domestic violence charge.. most people end up dropping them because they run out of money (lawyers) or they are emotionally drained from the continuous postponements/critcism that happen with these cases. It's not that easy to get out of an abusive relationship.. for many reasons.
