Johannesburg - A man has died and another remains missing after their boat capsized in rough sea conditions at Cape Town's Noordhoek beach, the National Sea Rescue Institute said on Sunday.
Spokesperson Craig Lambinon said a rescue crew was sent to the beach near Kommetjie around 07:00 on Saturday following eye-witness reports that a rubber duck had washed up on shore.
"Approximately 30m away the body of an adult male was found," he said.
"Later on the same day, a man in Hout Bay claimed to be a survivor of the same rubber-duck and claimed that a third man remains missing.
"Family members of the missing man have also subsequently come forward and confirmed that all three men launched the rubber-duck late on Friday night to go fishing," said Lambinon.
All three men were believed to be from Hout Bay.
Shore patrols on Saturday night and Sunday morning found no sign of the missing man.
