Ladybrand - A Northern Cape man was found guilty of dealing in dagga in Ladybrand Magistrates Court on Friday and fined R10 000 or 18 months imprisonment, Free State police said on Saturday.
Constable Christopher Mophiring said Tshepo Benjamin Solomon of Dackie Africa Drane Huhudi township, Vryburg was arrested in the Free State in December last year.
He said Solomon was driving an Isuzu bakkie when police stopped him on the road between Ladybrand and Tweespruit in December last year.
He refused to stop and the police chased him. He stopped after about 30 kilometres. The bakkie was searched and police found 21 bags containing dagga with an estimated street value of R240 000.
