Man fined for stealing Bees Roux's wallet

Johannesburg - A Pretoria court has convicted a second man for stealing former Blue Bulls prop Bees Roux's wallet, Beeld newspaper reported on Friday.

Vusimuzi Ntloko, 30, pleaded guilty in the Pretoria Magistrate's Court on Thursday to two charges of theft and two of fraud.

He committed the crimes while Roux was arguing with a metro police officer, according to the newspaper.

He used Roux's bank cards to withdraw more than R9 000.

Through a plea bargain, Ntloko was fined R10 000, or two years in prison, half of which was suspended for five years.

Ntloko's lawyer Moses Mkhabela said his client would pay the fine.

He was ordered to pay R2 000 immediately and the rest in instalments of R1 000 a month.

Ntloko was arrested last September, a few days after Roux beat to death Tshwane metro policeman Sergeant Ntshimane Johannes Mogale in an argument.

In a plea bargain this September, Roux was sentenced to five years' imprisonment, suspended for five years, on condition that he pay Mogale's widow R750 000 and not be convicted of a violent crime again.

Two other men were also arrested in connection with the stolen wallet and money.

Bhekizizwe Mbela was fined R4 500, or one year in prison, after pleading guilty to three counts of fraud.

The trial of Thabang Mokwele has been postponed until next year.
