2012-06-25 18:13

Johannesburg - A man has been arrested for being in possession of stolen goods in Mamelodi, Gauteng police said on Monday.

Warrant Officer Michael Mbewe said police, acting on a tip-off, found plasma television sets, DVD players and laptops worth about R50 000 at a house in the area on Sunday.

"Upon searching three cars parked in the yard, police found the stolen items, and a crowbar and bolt-cutter," Mbewe said.

The cars were also seized.

Mbewe called on housebreaking victims to get in touch with the police to check whether any of the items found had been stolen from them.

He said the arrested man would appear soon in the Mamelodi Magistrate's Court.
More arrests could be made.

..Good work SAPS.. should do occasional random spot checks .. you'd be able to trace thousands of stolen items if proof of ownership cannot be proved or substantiated.
