Man gets 18 years for killing colleague
Port Elizabeth - A 21-year-old Addo man was sentenced to 18 years imprisonment for murder by the Addo Regional Court, Eastern Cape police said on Thursday.
Nonde Polisi received the sentence on Wednesday after he was found guilty of killing Panama Leve, 30, in May 2007, during an argument in a tavern, Lieutenant Colonel Priscilla Naidu said.
Polisi then followed his victim to his home at Selbourne farm - where both men worked and lived - and hit Leve from behind with an iron rod, cracking his skull. Polisi then stabbed him 15 times.
"He was arrested immediately and remained in custody until sentencing," Naidu said.
She congratulated the investigating officer, Warrant Officer Gert Lloyd, for his work on the case.
