Durban - A man was sentenced to 25 years in prison by the
Maphumulo Regional Court on Tuesday for raping and robbing an elderly woman,
KwaZulu-Natal police said.
Police spokesperson Thulani Zwane said Ndumiso Gcabashe,
aged 22, raped a 90-year-old woman in her house in Maphumulo, in the Woza area,
on 20 July 2010.
The woman was alone when Gcabashe entered the house and
threatened her with a knife.
"Gcabashe overpowered the woman and raped her,"
Zwane said.
He also robbed her of R470, which was her pension money.
Gcabashe was arrested in the Ntuzuma area, north of
Durban, in February.
