Johannesburg - A man was arrested in Primrose, east of Johannesburg, on Saturday when he was found in possession of drugs with a street value of R7 000, said Ekurhuleni metro police.

The man's erratic driving was what raised suspicions, said spokesperson Wilfred Kgasago.

"It later became evident to the officers that the reason for the suspect's vehicle zigzagging was due to the fact that he had spotted the police car and tried to hide his illicit stuff in his underwear."

The man was stopped by the officers and scratched their patrol car with his own vehicle after he forgot to engage his handbrake.

Police found two packets of cat on him each with a street value of R300.

They searched the man's flat and found another 21 cat packages under his bed.

The man, 41, who is a Nigerian national, was charged with possession and dealing in illicit substances.

He was expected to appear in the Germiston Magistrate's Court on Monday.
