Man held for toy gun 'robbery'

Johannesburg - A 22-year-old man was arrested for allegedly trying to rob a Rietfontein cafe with a toy gun, Pretoria police said on Friday.

"He pointed the shop owner with a gun on Thursday night, but he [the owner] suspected it was a toy gun and snatched it from him," said Captain Colette Weilbach.

The man then allegedly produced a knife, but the shop owner overpowered him and called the police.

He was arrested by the Pretoria dog unit and expected to appear in the Pretoria Magistrate's Court on Monday to face charges of attempted robbery.
