Man held for twin sister's murder

2012-08-15 20:30
Johannesburg - A man has been arrested in Itsoseng for the murder of his twin sister, North West police said on Wednesday.

The man, 49, was at home with his sister on Saturday drinking alcohol. They were joined by his sister's friend before an argument erupted, Sergeant Philani Nkwalase said.

Nkwalase said the man was complaining about the friend who was drinking their liquor for free.

"It is alleged that the brother walked out leaving the two women inside the house."

He picked up a brick and threw it through a window. It struck his sister on the head.

The 49-year-old woman was taken to a local clinic where she died on Sunday, said Nkwalase.

She said the man took her body to a mortuary without informing police.

Police, acting on a tip-off, arrested the man on Tuesday.

He will appear in the Itsoseng Magistrate's Court on Thursday.
