Bloemfontein - A man arrested in connection with the kidnapping and murder of a pregnant Bloemfontein woman appeared in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.
Quewin Coetzee, 30, faces charges of kidnapping, murder and escaping from custody.
The matter was postponed until March 27, when a high court date would be set.
The State indicated that it a plea and sentencing agreement was being considered.
Celeste Fraser-Carson, 28, was found buried in a shallow grave near the Meadows Road, in the Bloemspruit area, on March 5.
Police said at the time that the discovery followed the arrest of a 30-year-old man in Graaff Reinet the day before.
Fraser-Carson disappeared about three weeks before her body was found.
Photographs of the missing mother, who was expecting her second child, were pinned up all over the city, and the case received extensive media coverage.
Earlier, police said they were awaiting forensic reports on the cause of death. Coetzee remains in custody.
A group of ANC Women’s League members protested outside the court on Thursday, displaying placards criticising the abuse of women. A large number of ANCWL members were also present inside the court room.
