Man in court for raping granny, 93

2011-04-13 15:42

Johannesburg - A spokesperson for the Gauteng police said on Wednesday that a 30-year-old man had appeared in the Vereeniging Magistrate's Court for allegedly raping a 93-year-old woman.

Spokesperson Aubrey Moopeloa said the man was arrested on Tuesday after he had allegedly raped the woman in Tshepisong Phase 1 on Sunday night.

"The woman's grandson saw him and called the police," he said.

The man apparently lived in the same street as the woman.

  • 123online123 - 2011-04-13 16:02

And furthermore, where is DEXTER now when we need him to sort out this little bastard? Somehow I get the feeling Dexter would sort this creep out adequately.

  • Kooven - 2011-04-13 16:03

That is truly disgusting...must be in a dark place in your life to do that. Takes a special kind of 'sick' bastard to rape a 93 year old granny...

      Bratt - 2011-04-14 09:41

I doubt age matters to this 'prick' (excuse the pun?).

  • gizzy - 2011-04-13 16:04

Shoot the bastard. He doesn't deserve to share the planet with humans or animals.

  • SIBONGILE MANYIKE - 2011-04-13 16:09

What kicks do you get out of raping a 93 year old. Sick perverted pig I hope he dies a slow and cruel death someday.

      lean - 2011-04-13 16:59

  • Currie_Mafia - 2011-04-13 16:21

This is just pure disgusting - raping a 93-year old, helpless women. Not sure what you can say is happening in the world.

      Banned - 2011-04-13 16:30

Its not the whole world, only here in Africa, how many grannys have you heard about being raped in Aussie?

      Naomi B - 2011-04-14 12:10

Please don't bring the whole of Africa into this. I come from a country in West Africa where things like this are not heard of.

  • Onkgopotse.Tiro.Mokgosi - 2011-04-13 16:25

    Bring back public stoning

  • Banned - 2011-04-13 16:28

Is this the revolution they keep talking about? I pray this poor woman heals and is surrounded by friends and family through this horrific ordeal.

  • Annelie - 2011-04-13 16:34

Rape is bad, I don't care if it is a 6 month old baby or 93 year lady. I agree with the person saying we need a Dexter in South Africa

  • - 2011-04-13 16:51

WTF!!! A 93 year old granny. How do you bring yourself to do it? Absolutly disgusting. I can't htink of a punishment bad enough for rapists

  • Phillip Jacobs - 2011-04-13 17:02

  • Mundu - 2011-04-13 18:07

Think we have to get full facts before judging. I work at a magistrate in Polokwane and recently had a case of a 19yr old who allegedly raped a 92yr old woman. After a lot of back and forth, with the old woman refusing to press charges, it turned out that they are lovers. She didn't know what to say to neighbours when she was questioned about the boy leaving her place early one morning, so she cried rape. Now she wants her boyfriend back. So since then, I don't judge. He could be rocking her world.

      shagrance - 2011-04-14 08:41

I understand your point but the problem is the youth might be taking advantage of the olda ladies. As you grow older your mind does that as well, you might find that the 92 year old granny has a mind of a 10 year old. My granny is 75 but the things she does are that of a 12 year old. The 19 year old even though it was consensual took advantage of the lady. A 19 year old boy has raving homnes and he might even have a steady GF who is not giving him what he is getting from the granny. A granny is simple terms is just used for the benefits coz its obvious they dont have a future

      Snoopy88 - 2011-04-14 12:35

I don't get it... I mean surely these LOSERS who force themselves on women and children, of any age, must realise how more than pathetic they look in everyone else's eyes? Real men don't rape. Pathetic dog.. someone should just take him to the vet and have him put down.

  • Khazakh1 - 2011-04-13 20:55

    Only in Africa!

      Naomi B - 2011-04-14 12:13

I have not heard of something like this in other parts of Africa, and I have lived all over Africa. Only in SA...

      Rugged - 2011-04-14 14:02

@Naomi B - Wow - are U sure that it's the same Afica we are talking about?? I have worked in Africa and definitely have heard of rapes etc..

      makgala - 2011-04-15 08:54

@Naomi: Have u not heard of mass rapes in DRC, Sudan, recently Ivory Coast,Nigeria etc. Most of the time, these reports are censored so as not to scare aware investors. They only release them in a war zone solely for political mileage

What scares me the most is we're so used to this kind of thing the 'shock' factor has gone. Rape gogo's, babies, grapefruit. It's truly a sad sad situation.

      Snoopy88 - 2011-04-14 12:36

What are happening to these young people that they are turning out like this? That terrifies me even more...

Things like this happen in every country in the world, the only difference is, in South Africa it is exposed to the media, whereas other countries it is kept from the news in order to show a low crime rate. Its all about politics. I am South African, and have been working in Sudan, Chad, and Uganda, where this also happens. get out there and make sure of your facts before saying "only in SA"

      leigh van der byl - 2011-05-15 00:37

Thats the biggest load of ludicrous, conspiracy theory crap I've read all day. South Africa's crime rate, and its violent crime rate in particular, is among the highest in the world. This fact isn't based on media reports, but in police reports. Don't come here and spread your ignorant self-delusion just because you're afraid to admit the truth.
