Bloemfontein - A 41-year-old man allegedly caught trying to sell a rhino horn in the Free State appeared in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court on Friday.

Dennis Struis was released on bail of R5 000 and the case was postponed to 24 July.

Members of the Hawks unit caught Struis in a police trap on Thursday after receiving information that a Bloemfontein man wanted to sell a rhino horn.

The "transaction" with an undercover policeman took place near the Bloemfontein High Court buildings in the central business district.

The horn, estimated to be worth R300 000, was confiscated.
