Johannesburg - A 54-year-old man was arrested for stabbing
another man to death in a fight over tobacco in Mqanduli, Eastern Cape police
said on Monday.
"Apparently the deceased asked for tobacco from the
suspect, who refused, and the deceased took it by force," police
spokesperson Zamukulungisa Jozana said on Saturday.
He said they had been eating and drinking at a
traditional ceremony at the time.
The man deprived of his tobacco became angry and
allegedly stabbed the other man, aged 30, to death.
A knife, believed to have been used in the murder, was
found at the scene.
The man was expected to appear in the Mqanduli
Magistrate's Court on Tuesday on a charge of murder.
