Man killed in Khayelitsha mob justice attack

Cape Town - One man was killed and two seriously injured in an alleged mob justice attack in Khayelitsha, Cape Town, Western Cape police said on Thursday.

“Apparently these three victims were accused of robbing people on trains in Nolungile train station, Site C, Khayelitsha,” Colonel Tembinkosi Kinana said.

He said local residents got together and attacked them on Wednesday afternoon.
One of the three died on the scene after being assaulted and burnt. The other two were taken to hospital.

Police were investigating cases of murder and attempted murder.

On Monday, two unidentified men were killed and their burnt bodies left near Heideveld train station.

Five people were arrested on Tuesday, June 9 for allegedly being involved in the mob justice killing of three men in Lwandle the previous weekend.

They were necklaced after being accused of stealing cellphones and cash.
