Johannesburg - A man was killed and another was seriously injured on Monday in a gas explosion in Mossel Bay, near Cape Town, paramedics said.

The two men were cutting an unidentified cylinder in a scrap metal yard at 08:00, when gas ignited and caused an explosion, said ER24 spokesperson Andre Visser.

An ambulance took the two injured men to hospital, but one of them died before getting there.

Three other people, who witnessed the blast, received counselling before being taken to a nearby clinic, Visser said.

This is sad, probably a lack of training on the employers side! By the way News24 Mossel Bay is nowhere near Cape Town its 400km's away!

How is Mossel Bay near Cape Town? It's like saying Benoni, near Durban!!! In modern history Mossel Bay was founded in 1488 - give it the respect it deserves. Mossel Bay is in the Southern Cape or in the Garden Route (near George). And then, the tragedy of this story may not be mocked. A human life was lost, in a terrible, unthinkable manner. SHOW SOME RESPECT!!! Let the officials do the investigation and the commentators show some remorse.
