Johannesburg - A man was killed when his car plunged off
a bridge on the N2 near Umhlanga in KwaZulu-Natal on Monday, paramedics said.
Netcare 911 spokesperson Chris Botha said reports from the
scene indicated the man lost control of his car and it veered off the road,
falling about 10m onto a road below.
"Paramedics arrived at the scene and found that the
driver of the vehicle had been ejected from the wreckage. He was found several
metres away with life threatening injuries," he said.
"Paramedics stabilised him on the scene and had to
use rope rescue equipment to hoist him back up to the road level. The
patient was placed on a ventilator and taken to hospital."
The man died shortly after he arrived at the hospital.
