Man killed in fight over booze money

2012-07-09 12:05

Johannesburg - An argument over drinking money during a cleansing ceremony ended in the death of a man at the weekend, Sowetan reported on Monday.

The Nkuna family were in Mahwelereng's Zone B section near Mokopane, Limpopo, for an ancestral cleansing when two brothers had a fight, allegedly over R200.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mohale Ramatseba said the older brother allegedly stabbed his younger brother in the stomach, head, and wrist. The younger brother died on the scene, on Saturday at 17:00.

The younger brother had apparently asked the older brother for R200 during the ceremony. They were supposed to share it on alcohol. However the younger brother allegedly squandered the money on his own, angering his sibling.

Ramatseba said a man was arrested and expected to appear in the Mahwelereng Magistrate's Court on Monday.

He urged families with domestic disputes to seek help from professionals, instead of resorting to violence.

Illogical! These ceremonies stirr up evil spirits!

      rob.baggaley - 2012-07-09 13:03

NO ! It's not illogical. Many of SA's " people " have demonstrated the lack of ability to think, before stabbing, shooting or maiming. As long as the bloodlust is satisfied, that is ALL that matters. Oh by the way....I am referring to black, indigenous people.

      CaptainGaza - 2012-07-09 13:14

Like Tequila, that's one evil spirit right there

      Irene - 2012-07-09 13:56

      Evil spirits? LOL!

Cain and Able the African Version.

      TSR01 - 2012-07-09 13:49

Except the cause of the argument was drinking money, not the father's blessing.. and here I thought blood was thicker than water... and alcohol

  • Steve - 2012-07-09 13:42

Just shows how cheap life is to some. It is tragic, but true. To fight over R200 and kill your own brother, is very, very sad.

  • faannagel - 2012-07-09 13:49

    like animals fighting over food,disgusting..

  • Irene - 2012-07-09 13:55

A cleansing ceremony? Get with the times and try behaving like civilised human beings .... it's 2012!

      rob.baggaley - 2012-07-09 14:01

" He urged families with domestic disputes to seek help from professionals, instead of resorting to violence. " Ja, like THATS going to happen !

      rob.baggaley - 2012-07-09 14:04

Most times their solution to a dispute is to stab, shoot or maim !

      rob.baggaley - 2012-07-09 14:14

Eish....Hold on Sipho, before we kill each other, lets seek the help of a professional to sort this out.

"The Nkuna family were in Mahwelereng's Zone B section near Mokopane, Limpopo, for an ancestral cleansing when two brothers had a fight, allegedly over R200" - that sums the african nation up quite nicely.....
