Man killed in revenge attack

Johannesburg - A 24-year-old man beat another man to death with a spade near Seymour in the Eastern Cape allegedly to avenge his father's murder, Grahamstown police said on Saturday.

Captain Jeanette van Zyl said the man attacked the 69-year-old with a spade around 19:00 on Thursday in Kolomana near Seymour.

The man died of severe injuries to his head and other parts of his body.

"According to the suspect it was a revenge killing for his father's death," she said.

Van Zyl said the man had been arrested for murder.
