Port Elizabeth - A 47-year-old man was stabbed to death for refusing to buy liquor for his friends at Nconco area in Engcobo, Eastern Cape police said on Monday.
Superintendent Mzukisi Fatyela said the man and his friend, 66, were attending a traditional ceremony at a sangoma's house on Saturday, when seven youths accused the old men of drinking their (the youths') alcohol and not buying more.
"It was a minor argument between people who usually drink together. One died on the spot and the other was rushed to hospital after they were stabbed," he said.
The youths aged between 16 and 20 were charged with murder and attempted murder. They will appear in Engcobo Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.
