Johannesburg - Rescuers on Monday continued searching for a man who went missing during a water ski trip at Inanda Dam in KwaZulu-Natal, the National Sea Rescue Institute said.

A group of friends had taken a swimming break from the water ski on Sunday, when one of them disappeared under the water, said spokesperson Craig Lambinon.

"The group tried in vain to find the man but... could not," he said in a statement.

A search began on Sunday but he was not found.

"The NSRI have no further details and police have opened an inquest docket and have taken over the ongoing search."
