Johannesburg - A man has been arrested for allegedly robbing a couple on a farm outside George, Western Cape police said on Wednesday.

The 23-year-old was caught near the farm Kraaibosch on Tuesday evening after police were called, Captain Bernadine Steyn said.

He allegedly confronted the 69-year-old farm owner and his 65-year-old wife with a knife when they opened the door for him at 21:40.

He ordered the couple to go to their bedroom, and tied up the older man before taking money, two cellphones, and a modem. Then he instructed the woman to drive him off the property.

The husband untied himself and contacted police, who stopped the car on Sandkraal Road and arrested the man. The husband and wife were unhurt.

The 23-year-old, from Thembalethu outside George, was expected to appear in the George Magistrate's Court on Thursday.

Very much agree with Bardy. With everything that goes on in this country on a day to day basis, that we all read and see,how silly do you have to be to open your door at that time?!?! Given,he was an old man (with respect) but still, common mun. People must wake up a bit a think hey =/

Well I guess another positive about this story is that he didn't assault / rape / murder the couple!!
