Man rapes 5 kids in one day

Johannesburg - A 20-year-old man from Randfontein was arrested after he allegedly raped five girls, aged between 3 and 11, on Saturday morning.

Superintendent Milica Bezuidenthout for police said the man used toys to lure the children - aged three, four, five, ten and eleven years respectively - to his house near a rubbish dump.

He allegedly told them to lie down and raped them in turn.

The children told their parents about the rape and the suspect was arrested shortly afterwards.

Evidence of the children's presence was allegedly found on the premises. The children received medical treatment.

Bezuidenhout said the suspect was not related to the children, and neither were the children related to each other.

Three other alleged child rapists, who preyed on sleeping victims, were arrested in the Northern Cape over the weekend, Sapa reported.

Captain Tony Modise, police spokesperson, said a 27-year-old man allegedly raped a four-year-old child at her parent's home in Paballelo, Upington, after the suspect allegedly climbed through a window about 02:00.

The child's mother apparently saw him when he tried to leave through a door. He was arrested after a doctor had examined the child.

In Olifantshoek, a 20-year-old man was arrested after he allegedly raped an 11-year-old girl. The alleged rape took place in the early hours of the morning while the girl was asleep. She apparently woke up when he was lying on top of her.

Modise said a 22-year-old man was arrested for allegedly raping an eight-year-old girl. She and her family were sleeping on the veranda of their house in Keimoes when she woke up as she was being raped.

Meanwhile, disciplinary action was being considered against a doctor who allegedly refused over the weekend to treat a two-year-old rape victim.

The girl was allegedly raped by a 16-year-old. A forensic pathologist at the local hospital allegedly refused to treat her and she received medical treatment only a day later.

Sizwe Kupelo, spokesperson for the Eastern Cape department of health, said the mother took the girl to the Tailor Dequest hospital in Mount Fletcher where the doctor allegedly refused to treat the girl.

The doctor apparently said he was "sick and tired" of rape cases and referred them to Matatiele Hospital 70km away.

In another case, a 16-year-old girl from Jeffrey's Bay was called out of a well-known pub on the beachfront about 23:30 on Saturday night. She was allegedly dragged into a dark corner and raped. Nobody has been arrested yet.
