Johannesburg - Two of three men who allegedly viciously attacked a 28-year-old Ennerdale resident were arrested after their victim recognised them in the street, Johannesburg police said on Tuesday.
"Yesterday (Monday) the victim recognised two of his attackers - aged 18 and 19 - in his neighbourhood and went to report it to the police," said Constable Edwin Ntsheo.
Returning with a detective, they found the two men. One surrendered and the second tried to escape, but was caught with the help of local residents.
The assault happened one month ago.
"On March 1, the victim was outside his uncle's house at about 20:30 when three men approached him and demanded R20. After that they swore at him. One of them attacked him with a knife, when he fell the second man stabbed him with a screwdriver.
"He was stabbed in his right leg, face, right arm, left wrist, right leg, knee and jaw."
After managing to escape he reported the incident to police and laid a charge of armed robbery and assault.
Both men were expected to appear in the Vereeniging Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.
The third man was still at large.
