Man shoots estranged wife, self

Cape Town - A 37-year-old woman is in critical condition after her husband opened fire on her before killing himself on Wednesday, Western Cape police said.
Nico Lourens, 36, shot his estranged wife in the back and thigh as she was running from him outside Durban Heights Flats in Bloemhof Street, police spokesperson Randall Stoffels said.
It is alleged that Lourens fired multiple shots at the woman with a 9mm pistol before shooting himself in the head.
Stoffels said the woman was taken to Durbanville Hospital were she was in critical condition.
No motive for the shooting was known and a case of attempted murder and murder was being investigated, added Stoffels.
