Pretoria - A man was shot dead and another was wounded at a minibus taxi rank in Olievenhoutbosch, near Centurion on Tuesday morning, Gauteng police said.

Lieutenant Colonel Katlego Mogale said the 35-year-old man and his friend were shot during a dispute between rival taxi operators.

"Some police where nearby when they heard the shots. The man was already dead when they got there," she said.

The other man was taken to a nearby hospital.

No arrests were made, and police were investigating.

If the police were nearby how come they failed to arrest the culprits because I believe they were still around at that time but again our cops were too scared to question anyone I guess.

The unruly taxi industry MUST be brought in line by the government. Not only do the disregard the rules of the road and as a consequence murder their passengers and innocent bystanders, but now kill people in their disputes.I challenge the Minister of Transport to analyse the statistics of fatal accidents involving motor vehicles and act on that sector that is the major sector involved in accidents.

and the culprit will be PUTCO Bus Company, I drive at weekend nights and I always see the accidents and in all of those I have not seen any taxi involved. I know they don't follow the rules of the road and they bend the rules as they say. But they are transporting the VIP(the people doing the actual work) to work
