Cape Town - A 24-year-old man was shot dead in an attempted hijacking on the Cape Flats, said Western Cape police on Tuesday.
Captain Billy Jones said Jogie Jacobs, his wife and his brother had stopped at an intersection in Lentegeur when four men converged on their vehicle from different directions about 19:00.
Jones said the men ordered the family out of their vehicle.
One of the men pulled a gun and fired a shot. Jacobs was hit in the right shoulder and died next to the car.
Jones said the men fled on foot with Jacobs's 9mm pistol.
