Man shot in botched hijacking

2012-01-05 10:38

Brits - A man was wounded during a hijacking in Mothotlunng, outside Brits, on Wednesday night, the North West department of public safety said.

Three armed men stopped the man in his Citroen sedan, then shot him in the chest and bundled him into the back of the car at 21:40, said spokesperson Lesiba Kgwele.

"The suspects - who struggled to drive the vehicle - allegedly lost control of the vehicle before it crashed into the house behind the Lutheran Church."

None of the inhabitants of the house were injured.

The hijackers fled the scene on foot.

The wounded man was taken to hospital. His condition was not immediately known.

North West Public Safety MEC Desbo Mohono appealed to the public to come forward with information that could lead to the hijackers' arrest.

“The Mothotlung community cannot afford to have heartless criminals like these on the loose. They need to be apprehended before committing other crimes and endangering the lives of other people,” she said.

If he change the law he will sit behind bars as well.

      godesha - 2012-01-05 12:08

Shirley, mr Zuma and his cronies are too busy partying and lining their pockets to care about the citizens of this country. Soooo much money to spend and so little time.

      Flowingriver - 2012-01-05 12:26

Those people who speak bad about our president should be put behind bars!

      Squeegee - 2012-01-05 12:44

Too many illegal guns out there. Years have been wasted on draconian laws for legal weapons and responsible citizens while thousands of illegal weapons are in use and for hire to criminals.

      jcarnecky - 2012-01-06 07:29

FlowingDrivel - YOU should be put behind bars for making such an ignorant comment. Freedom of speech allows anyone to 'speak bad' [sic] of anyone else, as long as it does not infringe on their rights!

I hear thet the UN (also becoming a circus of clowns) is concerned that 5000 people have been killed in Syria in 4 months (i.e. 1250 per month)! Wow, what a peaceful country Syria is! In this ANC governed(?) South Africa 1600 people are being killed violently per month! And the UN does not wink an eyelid ?!?! Sic.

      Dean Kenad - 2012-01-06 02:22

      Hahaha

  • Snoopsy - 2012-01-05 12:43

why try and steal a car if you cant drive it.. Really???? Good job on the article News24, perhaps check for duplication.

  • slenkoe - 2012-01-05 12:44

@Shirley,where does Zuma fit in here. People grow up and stop pointing fingers, did Zuma send people to shoot innocent people. Use your brain please. If is not Zuma its race card, when will this stop?

      Shirley - 2012-01-05 13:11

You are just sad, blind and ignorant!

      Euneda du Randt - 2013-08-20 11:49

Why do you people keep standing up for Zuma. You will not know how it feels like until you have children or lost love ones because of this. Mandela I have a lot of respect for and always will, but Zuma i have none. I believe he rapped that girl, i mean come on. Cant you see how high his ex drive is? I mean how many wives does he have? He just cant go with out it and then he supports them on our hard earned and worked money. I also suspect you havent been robbed or anything. Keep thinking the way your are thinking and one day you will wake up in the morgue. Just dont comment if you dont make sense. This is not about palaying the race card, because i can assure you i am not one.

  • Alfred Neumann - 2012-01-05 14:31

Still not sure why it's called a 'botched' hijacking. Which part of it was botched-the bushcats shooting the victim in the first place, not killing him when they did or crashing the stolen car?

  • Neil - 2012-01-05 14:32

@Flowingriver...Why dont you go and drown yourself for making a comment like that ! Retard !

  • Michelle Kirsten - 2012-01-06 01:21

@flowingriver: look up democracy and freedom of speech in a little thingy called a dictionary. Or google it and while you're at it look up north and south korea and see the difference between dictatorship and democracy. As for the others, Mr Zuma most likely did not order any highjacking, criminals actually do crime in all cultures and countries a
