Johannesburg - A 30-year-old man was stabbed to death after two men pulled him out of his car on Durban's South Beach on Sunday morning, ER 24 said.
"Two men armed with a knife approached his car which was parked at the beachfront parking and they tried to break the driver's window," said spokesman Neil Noble.
The man from Welkom had been sleeping in his car with his wife and two children, aged 6 and 13.
"He then opened the door and was pulled out and stabbed in the chest, abdomen and leg with his family witnessing the incident," Noble said.
The two robbers were later caught near Ushaka Marine World.
Superintendent Alex Wright of the Durban metro police confirmed the incident occurred around 02:00.
"One must remember that it is an offence to camp overnight on a beach," he said.
