Man threatens to bomb e.tv

2010-07-28 13:05
Cape Town – Employees at e.tv's Cape Town office had to be evacuated after a 40-year-old man threatened to bomb the building, police said on Wednesday.

Captain Ezra October told News24 that the man, who claimed to be a fisherman from Kalk Bay, had demanded from security personnel at the building's security points to see the news editor.

"He got angry after he was refused entry to see the news editor," October said.

He said the man got "rowdy" at reception and threatened a security guard and a receptionist, saying he would bomb the building if they did not let him through.

Police were then called in and the man was arrested.

October said a sweep of the building by the police's dog unit revealed no suspicious objects or parcels.

He said the man would be charged with making a bomb threat.

e.tv spokesperson Vasili Vass told News24 everything at the Cape Town office was "back to normal" after the incident.
