Manhunt for Limpopo rapists

2011-12-07 17:48

Johannesburg - A manhunt is on for three men after the rape of three women in Vuwani in Limpopo, police said on Wednesday.

The men gained entrance to the house of an 18-year-old girl and her 36-year-old mother in Lwamondo village, Vuwani, on Wednesday.

"The three stormed into the house where one of them assaulted the mother, gagged her while the other two went to the daughter's room," Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi said.

Mulaudzi said the girl was dragged from the house and raped outside.

"Her mother was also raped. The three fled on foot, taking with them a cellphone, cash and clothing."

A 14-year-old girl was raped, allegedly by the same three men, in Mvelaphanda village in Vuwani on Tuesday night. The three broke into the house through a window. One of the men raped the girl.

"Her 81-year-old grandmother was assaulted, but was not raped," he said.

All the victims were taken to the local hospital for medical treatment.

Provincial Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Simon Mpembe urged residents to help the police fight crime.

"The manhunt is on. It is sickening that we have people that still want to prey on our women... We will leave no stone unturned, that I promise," said Mpembe.

Unfortunately this is a sickness which wont go away by itself. Children should learn at home what is right and what is wrong. This is the responsibility of the parents. Or is civilisation now in reverse.

The rate at witch woman and children are raped in this country is absolutely shocking!!! ...and I have a notion that we get to read about a VERY small percentage of cases! Something needs to be done about this! But then again, that is true about all crime and corruption in this country! Something needs to be done about this!!!

I am very ashamed to be part this beautiful provinced infested by criminals who will always go large because of the scope of investigation. You wont know whether you are chasing illegal immigrants or citizens. I stay in Venda and you can't believe the number of Zims staying here. Most of people here occupy the most fertile land and Zims cultivate their lands and herd their cattles. While their working these fields they can easily identify their isolated prey. They also rape during the day and I know a woman who was raped on his way from church during the day as others left her behind to wee wee. When they turned back they identified the man busy with the helpless woman. She later on died of infection. There were rare cases of rape wherein the perpetrators would break into the victims premises. These criminals don't fear do be identified so they may probably not the locals. Just a stone through away from this village, a zim once raped a girl and killed her and mob justice was administered.
