Johannesburg - The body of a man was found buried in a shallow grave in Kagiso, near Krugersdorp, Gauteng police said on Thursday.

Police spokesperson Solomon Sibiya said the shallow grave behind the Kagiso cemetery was found by a passer-by collecting firewood on Wednesday last week.

"The passer-by noticed flies and some blood stains on the grass, accompanied by a bad smell, and he became suspicious. He called the police, who found the body of a man buried in a shallow grave."

He said the man had a scorpion tattooed on the left side of his chest.

On his left shoulder was a tattoo that reads “Crazy”.

He was estimated to be between 32 and 35-years-old.

"The body was exhumed and later taken to the state mortuary in Roodepoort.

Anyone able to assist the police in the investigation can call Kagiso Detective Constable Nkomo at 011 696 9086/87.
