Cape Town - The murder trial of acting judge Patrick Maqubela's wife was postponed by the Western Cape High Court on Wednesday.

Judge John Murphy ordered Thandi Maqubela and co-accused Vela Mabena to return to court next Tuesday.

He had earlier consulted with both the State and defence teams in chambers.

"The court is sympathetic to your reasons [for the postponement]. I can see you're not well," Murphy said to the State's Bonnie Currie-Gamwo.

The pair have pleaded not guilty to killing the judge on 5 June 2009.

Maqubela maintains he died of natural causes in his Sea Point apartment.

She has also pleaded not guilty to charges of forgery and fraud, which relate to her late husband's last will.
