Matric exams come to an end
Johannesburg - Matric examinations ended on Thursday, Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga said.
"Once more we have proved that our national senior certificate examination is improving year after year," she said.
"We are confident that our efforts to strengthen security at storage facilities of question papers and at distribution points have borne fruit."
She said the department set 132 question papers, 53 of which were adopted for Braille, and 45 for deaf learners.
In addition, the Independent Examination Board set 67 question papers for all non-official languages.
"All question papers were approved by Umalusi and were deemed to be of the appropriate standard and quality," she said.
Marking began on Thursday and would be completed on December 15. The results were expected to be announced on January 4.
