Johannesburg - The 2010 National Senior Certificate supplementary examinations were completed without "any serious irregularity or incident", the basic education department said on Friday.

The department was very pleased with how the examinations, which were completed on Thursday, were conducted in all nine provinces, spokesperson Granville Whittle said.

A total of 115 papers were written across the country in 1 156 examination centres from February 14.

Whittle said marking of the papers in the inland provinces would commence on Monday and in the coastal provinces on April 2.

"It is expected that the administration of the examination will be finalised by the end of April and all learners will be able to collect their results from school on Tuesday, May 3, 2011," he said.
