Mbalula's residence burgled

2010-06-29 08:03
Pretoria - Deputy Police Minister Fikile Mbalula's official residence in Pretoria was burgled over the weekend, The Star newspaper reported on Tuesday.

Mbalula was in Cape Town at the time. Appliances including an LCD TV were apparently stolen from the Waterkloof home.

The deputy minister had moved his belongings into the house last week. He and his family had not moved in yet.

"We have left the matter in the hands of the Brooklyn police," Mbalula's spokesperson Paena Galane told the newspaper.

In January, Deputy Trade and Industry Minister Thandi Tobias-Poloko had furniture stolen from her private home in Bloemfontein.

"When I was about to upgrade (the security system), someone jumped over the wall and stole my garden chairs," she was quoted as saying.
