Oscar Pistorius shooting

Pretoria - Tshwane metro police ordered the media on Thursday night to move out of the road outside the golfing estate in Pretoria where paralympian Oscar Pistorius lives.

"Guys, please move your cameras, you are in the middle of the road. Move them to the sidewalk. You are endangering your lives," said a metro police officer.

Metro police said a resident had complained that journalists had blocked her way out of the estate.

Pistorius' girlfriend, model Reeva Steenkamp, was shot dead in his house in the early hours of Thursday.

He was to spend the night in police custody and would appear in the Pretoria Magistrate's Court on Friday, on a charge of murder

Eight metro police officers, in two bakkies and a minibus taxi, arrived at the estate just before 18:00.

Before their arrival, security guards closed the gate, preventing the media from seeing inside the estate.

Curious residents were seen standing in groups near the gate, taking pictures with their cellphones, as did motorists passing Silver Woods Estate, east of Pretoria.

Two police vans were seen going inside the estate. Earlier, Brigadier Denise Beukes said forensic detectives were collecting evidence from inside the house.
