Media seeks access to Selebi files
Johannesburg - Talks were being held in chambers between lawyers for media houses and Judge Meyer Joffe on Wednesday in a bid to access documents relating to Jackie Selebi's corruption trial.
The Mail and Guardian, Avusa, Independent newspapers and Media24 have requested access to all documents referred to in the trial, including witness affidavits and a KPMG audit into the former police commissioner's financial affairs.
The defence and state as well as lawyers for the media houses are currently in chambers in the South Gauteng High Court in Johannesburg.
Selebi faces a charge of corruption and another of defeating the ends of justice in connection with at least R1.2m he allegedly received from Agliotti and others in return for favours.
