Johannesburg - Free State police were investigating two cases of attempted murder after two pensioners got sick when they accepted drinks from an unidentified person.
Police spokesperson Constable Christopher Mophiring said on Sunday that one of the pensioners, a 79-year-old man from Berea in Lesotho, was still in a coma.
He said the man was found unconscious next to an ATM in Ficksburg five days ago.
He was taken to the Phuthuloha hospital where he was still in a coma.
The second man who took ill also came from Lesotho.
Mophiring said the 80-year-old man was also found unconscious next to a bank in Ficksburg.
In both cases it appeared that the men had been offered a drink by someone and became ill after drinking the liquid.
Mophiring appealed to the public to contact the Ficksburg police station if they had any information. The number is 051-933-5620.
