Metro cops arrested for corruption

2012-02-23 20:58

Johannesburg - Two Johannesburg metro police officers were arrested for fraud, extortion and defeating the ends of justice on Thursday.

The department's internal affairs unit arrested them after they were pointed out in an identity parade, spokesperson Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar said.

The officers allegedly arrested the driver of a company under false pretences, claiming that the company car's special permit was a forgery.

They issued a hand written receipt, bearing false names and police numbers, for a R300 fine.

Minnaar said the officers were being held at the Johannesburg Central police station and were likely to appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate's Court on Friday.

Are you too corrupt? Dont do that, just report this behaviour when you see them.

Alan, you are the problem - do you know how many times i have insisted on a ticket, and walked away with nothing after telling the cop i don't have the money, simply because they are too lazy to write the fine. Those fines i have received, have been invalid because they can't spell / write correctly / have been posted directly to my house. Insist on the ticket, or are you that bad a driver?

dont feed the need to be corrupt

Alan, then you are just as guilty as the cop for taking the bribe. I agree with Kenneth, insist on the fine and chances are good that they will not write it.
