Metro cops kill a gunman

Johannesburg - Johannesburg metro police officers shot dead a gun wielding man at a roadblock in Johannesburg on Sunday, the city metro police said.

Spokesperson Wayne Minnaar said the man run past a roadblock in Jeppe Street, holding a gun in his hand.

"Officers ordered him to stop, but instead he fired a shot at them.

"They again ordered him to stop and he fired again. Officers returned fire and he was killed."

Minnaar said the man was alleged to have been involved in an armed robbery and he was running away.
